Hawthorne Court was built in 1921 and 1922. It is made up of fourteen buildings.
Seven buildings face west on 76th Street and seven face east on 77th Street. Eight of the buildings have five-room apartments, and six of them have six-room apartments.
The buildings are set back about ten feet from the street line and each has a small planted front yard. The large common garden area in the rear is private and has been planted with beautiful shrubs and flowers.
The buildings are five stories high. The exterior and supporting walls are brick-faced with Harvard brick and are trimmed on the front with terra cotta and limestone. On the rear of the buildings, Connecticut brick is trimmed with light brick and limestone.
Hawthorne Court is convenient to Manhattan via The Queensboro Bridge and is ten minutes from Manhattan by subway.
